This is the first in a series of articles all about how we prepare for your wedding photography. To read more of this series, please check out the index on Preparing for Your Wedding Photography.
People looking for a wedding photographer will come to us through a number of routes;
- Referrals from past happy couples
- Google/any other search engine (Let’s face it, most people will use Google)
- Referrals from other suppliers (check out Tiers of Happiness for a discount on both your photography and cake)
The majority of people that come to us are referrals from existing clients and previous happy couples. Dasha and I are very proud of that. It’s one thing to take photos, it’s a whole different thing that people are so pleased with them that they recommend you to someone else. Take a look at what some of them say on our Testimonials page.
Once an enquiry comes through, either on our contact form, by direct email or by phone, the first thing we normally do is to invite you to meet with us. That might not be physically possible (at least not very easily) if you’re an international client, in which case Skype can work just as well!
By the time we meet you for the first time, assuming it’s a location we haven’t visited before, we will usually have street-viewed your ceremony and reception venues, calculated travel timing between the two (if not in the same place) as well as the journey time between the bride and groom during their preparation. We will have checked our other commitments around that time to ensure we can deliver your photos and any wedding photo book to our promises.
Of course, the main point really is for you to see that we are not some kind of crazy psychos out to steal your kittens and shave all their fur… The truth is, we are a (relatively normal) married couple who just really enjoy photography and weddings.
We will go over your plans for the big day with you, any peculiar details or particular requests. We will also tell you about how we work and what you can expect from us; we like to start early and we don’t set a finish time; two photographers means you have two angles covered (particularly useful during the ceremony, as photographers are often restricted from moving too much) and so on.
We’ll sit and chat with you over a nice cup of tea or coffee, with biscuits (or cake, if you’re lucky). It’s also important for us that we get to know you to understand what you are looking for. It matters to us that you care about your photography and are prepared to commit to us as much as we are prepared to commit to you.
We can also show you more of our work, some of which does not feature on the website or on the blog, if you’re not already fed up of looking at loads of photos.
Hopefully, by the end of the meeting, you’ll want to book us.
Once you’ve booked, you needn’t worry about a thing (well, at least not for your photography) until the Pre-wedding shoot.
